Are The BoAt Airdopes HeadPhones Worth The Money?

Hello and welcome to #PaidReviews where I review things I’ve paid money for! Today, we’re discussing the BoAt Airdopes Atom 81 Headphones.

First, how much did you pay for them?

I paid Rs. 899/- on Amazon during The Great Indian Sale. Right now, they’re listed for Rs. 999/- on both Amazon and the BoAt website.

Why did you buy them?

I’ll be honest, I’m an Apple loyalist and I’ve been pretty devoted to my AirPods. But they stop working pretty quickly when you get sweaty in them often – and my primary use case for headphones is to distract me from my pain in the gym. I use them on calls and in flights from time to time, but the gym is really where most of my use is.

As much as I love my Apple products, it made no sense to me to continuously spend anywhere between 17-25K on a pair of headphones only to have them dead in a year or two. I got these because the price was low enough for me to warrant an experiment, and the reviews also mentioned that they were good for gym workouts.

What do you like?

Beyond the price (because that’s what I love the most!), I love the:

Battery Life: These babies last nearly 10 days on a single charge for me. I use them like for about 45 minutes a day roughly for my workouts. I love that I can pop these into my gym bag and charge them once on weekends. It’s so low maintenance and such a refreshing change from the Airpods Pro, whose battery life needed much more looking into.

Build: It’s not cheap looking or cheap feeling.

Sound and Mic Quality: During calls, I know my voice comes out the other side sounding reasonably clear. The sound quality is also very very decent and not tinny or cheap. More than anything, they don’t hurt my ears.

What do you dislike?

For the price, my dislikes are more like nitpicks. That said, if you’re an Apple user, there is an extra connectivity step involved. It doesn’t flow effortlessly from device to device as the AirPods do. It’s not annoying, but this is more of a callout. It’s also very unfair to compare Rs.900 headphones to those nearly 20 times the price.

What’s the verdict?

I love them and can’t recommend them enough to casual headphone users like me. They’re fantastic value for money and would make for a great gift for the younger people in your life (who aren’t audiophiles but would appreciate wireless headphones). They’re great for the older folks in your life too!

Rating: 5/5

#PaidReviews is an arbit series that’s entirely dependent on the things that I’m buying. The series was started on the belief that you can’t really state that something is ‘worth the money’ until you actually spend the money on it. I hope you found this useful!
